At DammGirl Coaching, we keep weight loss simple because we believe small, consistent decisions build confidence—and confidence is your secret weapon for thriving during the holidays.
With months of celebrations stretching from Halloween to New Year’s, it’s easy to feel like indulgence is inevitable. But guess what? Consistency is what keeps you grounded, even in the most tempting seasons.
Here’s how I use consistency to navigate the holidays and maintain a healthy balance, both physically and emotionally.
1. Start with a Consistent Mindset
Every decision starts with how you think and feel. Instead of thinking, “The holidays are all about indulgence,” I focus on these empowering thoughts:
-“I can enjoy the holidays without sabotaging my goals.”
- “A little planning goes a long way.”
- “I deserve to feel good, not sluggish, after the holidays.”
Your mindset creates the foundation for every choice you make. When you consistently remind yourself of your goals and the benefits of balance, you’ll naturally start making decisions that support your well-being.
2. Make a Plan and Stick to It
Consistency doesn’t mean perfection—it means showing up for yourself, even in small ways.
- Halloween Candy: I decided ahead of time to enjoy a few pieces for a few days, then toss the leftovers. By not over-purchasing, I could share some with trick-or-treaters without being stuck with endless temptations.
- Meal Planning: I consistently create weekly meal plans. I balance low-carb days with higher-carb days to meet my nutritional and emotional needs. This keeps me satisfied while avoiding feelings of deprivation.
3. Focus on Protein and Healthy Fats
Protein and healthy fats (like avocado) are my go-to tools for staying satiated. These choices not only keep my energy stable but also help curb cravings, making it easier to pass on those extra holiday cookies.
4. Enjoy Treats, but With Boundaries
Let’s be real—holiday cocktails and desserts are part of the fun! But I’ve learned that planning ahead is key to enjoying these without overdoing it.
- Cocktails: I decide which days I’ll indulge and plan how many drinks I’ll enjoy. Knowing when to cut myself off keeps me in control.
- Desserts: My husband and I often share desserts to savor the experience without overeating. Sometimes, just a few bites are enough to satisfy that sweet craving.
5. Balance Fun with Movement and Rest
Consistency doesn’t just apply to what’s on your plate—it’s about your overall lifestyle.
- Workouts: We keep our exercise routine consistent and enjoyable. Whether it’s a walk, a quick workout, or an outdoor adventure, moving our bodies is a priority.
- Rest and Relaxation: We’ve added intentional rest to our weekly schedule. Rest isn’t just about sleeping—it’s about taking time to relax and recharge, which supports mental and emotional well-being.
6. Decide Ahead of Time
The secret to surviving (and thriving) during the holidays is deciding ahead of time. When you plan what you’ll eat, drink, or do, you remove the stress of making decisions on the spot. This approach:
- Keeps you consistent.
- Builds confidence in your ability to stick to your goals.
- Reduces guilt or regret later.
Consistency Builds Confidence
When you consistently make decisions that align with your goals, you build trust with yourself. That trust becomes confidence, and confidence allows you to enjoy the holidays without feeling overwhelmed or out of control.
