It's never too late to start....

For years I spent a lot of time telling myself "If only I had started sooner, I'd be at my goal weight by now", or "I'd be financially better off", or "I'd have saved myself from a a lot of hurt and pain". But the truth is that right here and now is the best place for me to start. Start a new career, start a new project, start a healthier lifestyle. Start healing a relationship. Start.

How do I know this to be true? Well, If "before", meaning in the past, would have been the right time than that is exactly when I would have done it. But I didn't. I had lessons to learn. I had growing up to do. I had mountains to climb. I had healing that needed to take place. And time is not limited. I still have plenty of it left.

Regret and disappointment never help me to start anything worthwhile. They just prolong my suffering. A better way to think about it would to simply just say, Now is the perfect time for me to (fill in the blank). I have a lot more wisdom today than I had 10, 15, 20 years ago. I have more experience. I dodged a lot of unnecessary things by waiting until right now to begin.

There are a lot of examples of people who started something incredible in their 60's, 70's or 80's. One particular woman is Gail Lind who at the age of 65 years old decided to start. She started by deciding to build health and strength back into her life and body by taking a circuit training class and losing 55 pounds. She can leg press 400 pounds and bench presses 55 pounds. Gail teaches other women to work out and eat in a way that supports their bodies. She's 70 years old now and is a personal trainer at an Anytime Fitness. Gail teaches a circuit class training people ranging in ages between 50 and 70 years old.

I for one decided at the age of 50 to become a certified life and weight coach. I just turned 53 this year and I continue to start new things. I no longer tell myself that I wish I would have......fill in the blank. I am more in love with my husband and enjoy our relationship. I am more connected to my children. I am more willing to face the walls that I once erected in order to feel safe and now I'm approaching my walls and building ladders to climb higher than I ever imagined.

I use the tools I have learned over the years along with my new tools of coaching to create the life I've always dreamed of.

Today is the perfect day to start. Stop looking back on your life with regret and disappointment. I'd love to work with you and help you discover that it's never too late to start building the life you want. Send me a message, shel@dammgirlcoaching.com and we can set up a discovery session so that you can start.......
